If you get that reference then congratulations you are old like me! :)

Anywho...I'm sure many of you have noticed that I've been away from DA and that I haven't posted anything new in a while. The reason for this is the birth of my son, Oliver!

He's really cute and a lot of fun but he is a LOT of work and thus almost no artwork has been had. I still draw every day but to do anything digital with him around is almost impossible. I'm still going to put stuff up occasionally but not as often as I used to. I'm hoping that when he becomes less of a handful that I can get back to cranking out some EadgeArt.

Thanks for sticking around and digging on my work. I really appreciate the love.

Weighing in on Merida's Makeover

Wed May 15, 2013, 2:08 PM

Definitely not a fan of the new look of Merida from Brave. The best thing about Merida is that she doesn't fit into that stereotypical mold of a Disney Princess. She's a damsel that can take care of her own distress. That's what was so appealing about her. The new look takes away everything that is unique and different about her. The funniest thing about this "makeover" is in the movie, this idea of what a princess should look like and act like was exactly what the character of Merida fought against. She could care less about being pretty or being a princess for that matter. All she wanted to do was be free to climb mountains and ride her horse. Merida would've ripped this dress clean off so that she could shoot her bow more effectively. If I was a woman, that would be the thing I'm most offended by, the fact that they took her bow and arrows and replaced it with a low cut bedazzled dress. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be pretty or viewed as sexy but it doesn't fit who she is as a character. Disney was trying to find a way to add to their princess stable (which is a cash cow btw) and they didn't understand that little girls want to Merida because of who she is and what she represents and that is a strong female figure. Disney didn't have to redesign her in order to make her a Disney Princess. She is a Disney Princess just not a conventional one. It's awesome to be different. If I have a daughter someday, I hope she wants to be like Merida (movie version) than any other Disney Princess.

Question: What do you think of Merida's Disney Princess Makeover? Comment below.

...well they're not really my shirts I just designed them.

Hello DA.

Hope the New Year is shaping up to be a great one for you.

I just wanted to take the time to tell you guys about a new line of shirts that I designed for the Fine Bros' very popular YouTube channel called HEY ITS MILLY!

For the uninitiated, Milly is a foul mouthed little girl (puppet) with her own YouTube channel where she answers questions from her fans with her co-host Rafi. It's a very funny channel that I highly recommend to everyone over the age of 18 who isn't easily offended.

Here's a link to the HEYITSMILLY channel: www.youtube.com/user/HeyItsMil…

Happy 2012 everyone!!

If you can believe it, this is my first ever journal entry on DA. Not sure why it took me three years but better late than never.

My New Year's resolution is to continue to strive to be a better artist and to be much more visible online. DeviantArt is a site/community that is extremely important to me as an artist. There are times when I doubt my abilities and a nice comment will pick me up and encourage me to keep going. Sometimes when I fall into an artistic rut, I just look at all the talented artists in this community and I'm inspired to create.

So in 2012, there will be definitely be more of me on DA. I won't let comments go unanswered or favorites go un-thanked.

2012 is going to be a great year for me.....until the world ends on December 21. Haha.
