This is the eighteenth in a series of drawings dedicated to my childhood heroes, the WWE Fallen Superstars. Long before he was Bad News, Allen Coage was a 1976 Olympic bronze medalist in Judo. Following his bronze medal win, Coage began his career in professional wrestling training with the legendary Antonio Inoki in Japan. After a few years in Japan, Coage began wrestling with Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling and Bad News was born. Although he only wrestled in WWF for two years, he left a lasting impression on an 8 year old me. Bad News Brown was Stone Cold before Stone Cold without the mic skills. A tough loner who had no allegiance to anyone but himself(sound familiar). Bad News Brown's toughness apparently wasn't an act. He once challenged Andre the Giant to a real fight after Andre made a racist comment. Andre apologized and backed down. He was a bad bad man.

Stone Cold long before Steve Austin, Bad News was a legit bad ass. He started wrestling late in life at the age of 34 and didn't retire until he was 55. And Antonio Inoki respected Brown's Judo skills. Nobody messed with Bad News Brown.
